Lord of the Rings charcoal sketches 2

I’ve decided to start a new fantasy series of original Lord of the Rings (LOTR) oil paintings. The cinematography in these films is spectacular, and I’ve often watched them and thought “This scene would make such a splendid painting.” So that’s what I’ve decided to do. Take my favorite scenes from the film and use them to create oil paintings. Here are some charcoal sketches I did from “Fellowship” to get some ideas. Stay tuned for full-color oil paintings of Lord of the Rings.

My friend Kate says you’re wanting ideas for pieces to work on, ideas from other ringers. Is love to see land scales and battle scenes, like Minas Tirith and pre-battle “calm before the storm”.

Those are great ideas, thank you Leah. One of my paintings is actually going to be a great Minas Tirith one. But I like the “calm before the storm” idea, I’m sure I could comb those scenes and find some great imagery to convey this mood.
