This piece is loosely
based on the town of Manarrola in Cinque Terre on the north-west
Italian riviera.
I was having trouble coming up with a name for this piece,
until I realized why I had made it in the first place. I fell
in love with Italy when I travelled there in the spring
of 2004. It's inspired me to do these pieces because anything to do with that country is just beautiful
no matter what you do to it. And to have a small piece of
Italy with me at all times is comforting somehow, because
I'd like to go there again soon, and stay for a very long
time.
Italy is the only place I have ever visited where I have literally
been tempted not to come home. |
