I've really taken a like to drawing trees
like this - that cartoony style just appeals to me for some
reason.
This picture is like some photograph compositions I've seen
before where someone took 4 pictures of the same tree during
the different seasons of the year. This is my own twist on
that idea. Plus I kind of like creating seasons that we really
don't get here in Souther California that much - bright pink
trees in the spring, bright red trees in autumn, and bare
snowy trees in winter. We pretty much get to see trees as
they're represented here in the upper right square - hot,
green, summer.
I also enjoyed this paper a lot. I think it was actually made
by pressing thin sheets of cork across some kind of paper,
because not only did it look like cork, but it felt soft and
slightly spongy like cork does. I drew in a picture "frame"
around the edges, but all the brown background that remains
is the actual color and texture of the paper. |
