This was just a quick one I did for my friend Ryan for his girlfriend Monica's birthday. It turned out really great, I really like how her hair came out.

This was done from a photograph taken during their trip to the Bahamas. If I had the time, I would have loved to do this one in color, because the black and white just doesn't do it justice. The colors were so bright and rich. But the pencil version only took me a few hours.

It's interesting - this picture would probably have been a pretty tough one 4-5 years ago, but it really wasn't all that challenging. Mostly because there was no face that I had to match a likeness to (that can take some time and effort to really nail the person's likeness 100%). This picture was fun to do, but really didn't give me much of a challenge. That may sound like boasting, but seriously, just take a look at some of my earlier work on this site and it's really apparent that I've come a long way with my artwork.
