Title: Landscape of the Masters, study of Thomas Moran

Size: 18×24″

This is an original oil landscape painting by artist Christopher Clark. Every artist should do a “master study”, or try to recreate a painting by an old master painter. It’s very educational, and helps us understand more about how the masters put together a painting. One of my favorite artists is 19th/20th century American landscape painter Thomas Moran. His pieces were full of vibrant light, and just the right amount of detail. I chose this painting for this master study, even though I’m not completely sure of the name (all I’ve been able to find is the title “Landscape”). But it was very challenging, and I hope I did Mr. Moran some justice with this version of his painting.

I painted this piece live at my oil painting class / workshop in Tempe, AZ. I will soon be moving my oil painting classes to Denver, Colorado, so contact me if you’re interested in studying oil painting with me.

I am available for custom commission paintings of all kinds.
